A Resort Between the Sea and the River
Narva-Jõesuu Today
Narva-Jõesuu is a resort area in north-eastern Estonia, situated on the coast of the Gulf of Finland where the Narva River meets the sea. The place is known for its long sandy beach, pine forests and the calm atmosphere of a traditional seaside resort.
Today Narva-Jõesuu is more than just a town by the sea. The wider area also includes Sinimäe, Olgina, Vaivara and several villages located between the coast, forests and hills. Together they form the diverse landscape and character of this part of Ida-Viru County — from a seaside resort to rural scenery and historic places.

The administrative centre of the area is the town of Narva-Jõesuu, one of the oldest seaside resorts in Estonia. The resort tradition began in the second half of the 19th century, when visitors from St Petersburg started coming here for holidays. Over time Narva-Jõesuu became one of the best-known summer resorts on the Baltic Sea coast.

The main natural attraction of the region is the famous Narva-Jõesuu Beach. It is considered the longest sandy seaside beach in Estonia, stretching for about 9 kilometres along the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland. The wide strip of light sand and the pine forests lining the coast create a distinctive landscape that has helped the resort remain popular for more than a century.

Today Narva-Jõesuu is a year-round destination. In summer visitors come for the sea and the beach, while in other seasons they enjoy walks in the pine forests, relaxation in spa centres and the peaceful atmosphere of the resort. The area offers modern spa hotels, accommodation, restaurants and leisure facilities.

Thanks to its proximity to Narva, diverse nature and rich history, Narva-Jõesuu is an important tourist destination in Ida-Viru County. Here the sea meets the river, pine forests meet rolling hills, and resort architecture stands alongside quiet villages — all of which shape the unique character of this region.
