FORESTS, COAST AND THE BLUE HILLS
Protected natural areas
The landscapes around Narva-Jõesuu are diverse and distinctive. Within the city and its surroundings lie three protected natural areas – Udria Nature Reserve, Auga Nature Reserve and Vaivara Landscape Conservation Area – established to preserve valuable habitats and the region’s natural diversity.

Each of these areas has its own character. Udria protects a coastal landscape shaped by the Baltic Sea, with cliffs, a rocky shoreline and seaside forests. Auga Nature Reserve is a quiet woodland area on sandy soils, where ancient Littorina Sea coastal ridges can still be seen. Vaivara Landscape Conservation Area protects the unique relief and forest habitats of the Sinimäed hills.

Together these protected areas form an important part of the natural environment of Narva-Jõesuu, offering visitors the opportunity to explore coastal scenery, historic hills and peaceful forest landscapes.
