The new breakwater in Narva-Jõesuu is the town’s newest landmark and an important sight that combines modern engineering with a wonderful recreation area. Over 300 meters long and located at the mouth of the Narva River, this protective structure is designed to safeguard the coastline and river mouth, while also standing as one of the easternmost hydraulic structures of its kind in Northern Europe. Where a ruined structure once stood, visitors are now greeted by a modern seaside promenade reaching far out over the waves.

The breakwater has quickly become one of the town’s most popular walking spots. It offers a unique opportunity to step seemingly right into the middle of the sea, enjoying panoramic views of Narva Bay, the river, and the coastline. Watching the sunset or feeling the freshness of the sea breeze here is particularly enchanting. Thanks to the convenient walking path and modern lighting, it is a wonderful place for both a peaceful stroll and capturing memorable photos.

The completion of the project marked an important milestone in the development of Narva-Jõesuu—long-term preparations culminated in its opening in August 2026.
