Located at the Narva-Jõesuu cemetery, this memorial commemorates those who fell in the Estonian War of Independence (1918–1920). The monument stands on a collective grave of soldiers who lost their lives in the struggle for Estonia’s independence. It was unveiled on 23 June 1926 and was constructed by engineer Vaher based on the design of Professor Amandus Adamson.
The original copper plaque disappeared before the Second World War. After the summer of 1991, a granite plaque of the same size was installed in its place. The modest monument, marked with a cross and the inscription “1918–1920 Vabadussõjas langenutele,” reflects the difficult years of Estonia’s statehood formation. Today it remains an important historical landmark and a place of remembrance, where commemorative ceremonies are held on national holidays.
