In the early 1880s, two major park areas were created in the centre of the Narva-Jõesuu resort town. The southern one is Light Park. It lies between the axes of Vabaduse and Raja-Rahu streets, bordered by Pargi Street to the east and Supeluse Street to the west. A. Hahni Street runs through the park from the Kurhaus towards the sea.

The English-style park around the Kurhaus was designed by Russian landscape architect and dendrologist Arnold Regel. The park is mainly covered with mature pine trees and includes around 70 species of trees and shrubs. Key landscape features are the pond near Vabaduse Street and a more private seating area on the Pargi Street side, known as Musumägi.
On a small promontory by the pond stands one of the few preserved Tsar-era pavilions, protected as a national architectural monument. Today Light Park is a popular walking and event area, hosting concerts and other events.

Between Vabaduse and Aia streets lies the second central park area of the resort — Dark Park. Unlike Light Park, it is a natural forest park shaped by 5–7-metre-high sand dunes and covered with an approximately 200-year-old pine forest.
