Today, on April 14, an official twin city agreement was ceremoniously signed in Karlskrona, Sweden. The document was signed by the Mayor of Narva-Jõesuu, Maksim Iljin, and the Mayor of Karlskrona, Emma Swahn Nilsson.
The ceremony took place in a symbolic location — the historic Nordenskjöldska gården estate, built in 1794. The distinguished ambiance of the building highlighted the significance of the occasion: our cities are now connected not only by the shared Baltic Sea, but also by official agreements to develop culture, tourism, and the economy.

This agreement is the fruit of thorough preparation and genuine mutual understanding between our regions. The partnership creates a solid foundation for international cooperation, intertwining our coastal heritage and maritime traditions, youth exchanges, and the promotion of entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism. Together, we will focus on sharing best practices in social welfare and local governance, while exchanging expertise on the effective use of European Union funds. We have embarked on a shared journey to ensure that long-term, fruitful cooperation brings tangible benefits to the residents of both shores of the Baltic Sea!
